Our Curriculum

At Montessori Academy of Youngsville, our curriculum is designed to support the natural development of each child through hands-on, purposeful learning. Rooted in the Montessori philosophy, our approach encourages independence, concentration, critical thinking, and a deep love of learning.

Children are guided through key areas of development:

Practical Life

Building independence through everyday tasks like pouring, dressing, cleaning, and food preparation

Sensorial Exploration

Refining the senses through materials that isolate color, shape, size, texture, and sound

Language & Literacy

Developing vocabulary, phonics, early reading, and expressive communication

Mathematics

Introducing quantity, number sense, patterns, and problem-solving through tactile materials

Cultural Studies

Exploring science, geography, art, music, and the world around them

Age Groups

Niño

1-3 years

“Niño” means child in Spanish, beautiful reminder of the innocence, potential, and natural joy each child brings to our community. At this early stage of life, our Montessori environment is designed to meet the unique needs of our youngest learners through gentle guidance, meaningful routines, and rich sensory experiences.

In our Niño Classroom, children are seen as capable, curious explorers. Through carefully prepared spaces and hands-on materials, they build independence, strengthen motor skills, and begin to understand the world around them through movement and discovery. Teachers observe closely, guiding rather than directing, and encouraging each child’s natural pace of development.

Preschool

3-5 years

Our preschool program is rooted in the Montessori philosophy, which recognizes that children between the ages of 3 and 5 are in a powerful stage of learning through movement, repetition, and hands-on experiences. In this environment, children are encouraged to follow their natural curiosity and work independently, in pairs, or in small groups on meaningful activities.

Kindergarten

5-6 years

Our Kindergarten program at Montessori Academy of Youngsville offers a rich, hands-on learning environment that supports the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally. As the final year of the Montessori Early Childhood cycle, this stage brings together everything students have been building in their earlier years.
